A Grade I listed 17th-century country house in 200 acres of National Trust parkland — Bodysgallen Hall holds three AA Rosettes and is the only restaurant in Llandudno to do so. One of the finest dining experiences in North Wales.

Bodysgallen Hall is one of the most remarkable properties in North Wales — a Grade I listed 17th-century country house set in 220 acres of its own parkland and formal gardens, owned by the National Trust and managed as a hotel and spa. The dining room holds three AA Rosettes, making it the only restaurant in Llandudno to hold that award, and the Good Hotel Guide describes it as offering 'excellent food and drink' and 'exceptionally attentive service'.

The kitchen is led by head chef Abdalla El Shershaby, who worked his way up through the ranks at Bodysgallen over eleven years before his appointment in 2020. The cooking draws on fruit and vegetables grown in the hotel's own walled kitchen garden alongside locally sourced Welsh ingredients — game, farm produce, fresh fish — presented in dishes that are both elegant and grounded. A full vegan menu is also available, which is unusual for a dining room of this character.

The setting is extraordinary: stone-mullioned windows looking out over formal gardens and parkland, with views towards Conwy Castle and the mountains of Snowdonia beyond. The room is hushed, properly dressed with linen tablecloths, and the service is attentive in the classical country-house manner. Sunday lunch here is a genuinely special occasion.

Located on the Royal Welsh Way approximately two miles south of Llandudno — seven minutes by car from The Rosedene. Fine dining menu (Wednesday to Sunday) is priced at around £75 per person; a set-price dinner is available Monday and Tuesday at £47 to £59 for two or three courses. Smart dress is expected. Reservation essential — one-night bookings are refused at bank holidays for hotel guests.
